Student Practicum Placement

Are you a prospective student looking for a counselling/psychotherapy placement opportunity? Northern Skies Wellness is an approved site for students in the Master's of Counselling Psychology Program (MACP) at Yorkville University. We are accepting applications for students beginning placements in January, May, and September 2025. 


Our site offers services in-person and virtually, and we are seeking students for in-person opportunities!

What we Offer:

  • In-person counselling experience, including opportunity for initial consultations and individual therapy sessions

  • A friendly and supportive work environment 

  • Access to Jane App- our practice management software for online booking, charting, video appointments, and scheduling

  • Administrative support and client referrals through our marketing efforts

  • Use of our HIPAA compliant Zoom account for recording/conducting virtual sessions

  • Regular on-site team meetings and peer-consultation

  • Onsite training through lunch & learns & other webinar workshops

  • Onsite therapeutic materials and educational resources

Student Requirements: 

  • Bachelors degree in a relevant field; preference given to students who have a related Masters degree

  • Minimum 1-3 yrs of relevant work or volunteer experience in the mental health field

  • Registration with CRPO 

  • Obtain your own professional liability insurance

  • Attain an external supervisor - recommendations can be provided

  • Flexible availability - Scheduling hours with site supervisor. Some evenings required. 

  • Ability to work with a caseload of 8-10 clients per week, independently

  • Strong organization and time-management skills

  • Completion of continuing education/training certificates considered an asset 

  • Completion of an ASIST workshop or equivalent prior to commencing practicum 

  • Seeking motivated and dedicated individuals willing to learn in a team environment

  • We will conduct interviews 2 semesters prior (6 months) to your anticipated start date
